The Oechsle refractometer is an analog measuring instrument for determining the refractive properties of various liquids. The Brix refractometer with illumination is particularly suitable for applications in dimly lit or tungsten-lit environments. The LED light incorporated in the prism cover provides the Oechsle refractometer with the light necessary for measurement. Since the LED light is matched to the scale of the Brix refractometer with illumination, measurements in cellars, for example, are possible without measurement errors caused by the artificial light. The Oechsle refractometer with different scales is used for different applications, for example Oechsle for the winemaker or a scale from 0 ... 32 % Brix for the measurement of cooling lubricants, juices and other emulsions.

Due to the diopter adjustment possible on the eyepiece, a sharp view of the scale is always guaranteed with a Brix refractometer with illumination. To calibrate the Oechsle refractometer, a few drops of distilled water are required. In order for the calibration to be performed, the distilled water must now be added to the test surface. As soon as the prism cover is closed and the LED illumination of the Brix refractometer with illumination is activated, the measured value can be read from the scale. This reading on the Oechsle refractometer should be 0% Brix. If the measured value of the Brix refractometer with illumination is not at 0 % Brix, it can be readjusted using the adjustment screw.

With many refractometers, temperature compensation must be performed to obtain the correct measurement result. Often this is done afterwards by a mathematical calculation. With this Oechsle refractometer, a subsequent mathematical calculation or even a manual temperature compensation is not necessary, as this Brix refractometer with illumination has an automatic temperature compensation based on 20 °C. Thus, the Oechsle refractometer makes measurement much easier for the operator. Because of its easy operation, measuring range, accuracy and extensive functionality, the Brix Refractometer with Illumination is used, for example, in educational institutions such as universities or training centers, research institutions or even in the agricultural industry.
