The basis weight scale is a true scale multi-talent. You can use the device as a laboratory scale with the display unit g/m² or as a ”normal” scale with the display unit g (can be changed over at the touch of a key). The prerequisite for use as a weight per unit area balance with direct display in g/m² is that you place samples on it that have an area of 100 cm².

Either cut out a square (10 x 10 cm) or use an appropriate sample ripper. The most accurate variant is to use a sample cutter, which you can also order from us in the accessories suitable for this basis weight scale. For paper with a high basis weight, e.g. cardboard or paperboard, the basis weight scale can be used without the supplied draft shield. However, for writing paper, the draft shield should always be used.
