Customers all over the world have associated quality products "Made in Germany" with the BURG-WÄCHTER brand for many decades. Its roots go back to the 19th century when the F.W. Lüling was founded in Volmarstein. This had specialized in the production of padlocks, which were sold under the BURG brand. The name referred to the town's landmark, Volmarstein Castle, the ruins of which can still be seen from afar above the Ruhr Valley.
